Hey niketalks, I am planning a family trip in orlando Florida in early Decemeber of this year. i was wondering if anyone out this way can give me some pointers?the family trip is to go to Disney World. if anyone here knows which hotels do you guys prefer or recommend? i would like a location where its close to disney world and also shopping outlets such as mall outlets etc. i havent booked the trip yet im still deciding. i was thinking about the Tiki Village but it maybe useless if im going in december? well any info or input will help, thanks in advance.

It's all based on how much you're willing to spend on lodging compared to what you'll already be spending on theme park tickets.

We've gone to Orlando twice in the last month (week to Disney, week to Universal). Universal was considerably cheaper. There's actually a few on-site Disney hotels that are affordable, $85 a night or so, or you could stay along Palm Parkway (our preference) with a complimentary shuttle service that takes you to and from the parks.

There are outlets everywhere you look, within 5 miles or so of every major hotel. There's also Florida Mall (our favorite) with a House of Hoops along Sand Lake Road (another viable spot for a hotel, jsut not as close to the parks).

Look for hotels that provide free shuttle service for you family. Disney's $15 a day to park otherwise. My wife and I purchased 5-day park hopper passes at Disney and the cost for both w/ tax was $740. By comparison, two out-of-state SEASON passes to Universal were $600.

Hey. I know when we went to Orlando we stayed in the Double Tree and this Hotel literally right next to Seaworld (forgot what it was called, think it was Renaissance). Renaissance is nice if you have kids with you I think.

As far as amusement parks, there's alot: Disney, Seaworld, Universal, Islands of Adventure, Wet n Wild, etc. Not sure what your budget is and what you can afford.

They also have alot of outlets like Depast said and there's a few nice malls there too. I know Florida Mall is about 30 minutes from Disney and you have another outlet that is also 30 minutes away. They have nice stuff Downtown. You should drive by the Rigleys Believe it or Not house, pretty cool.

I feel like I'm not being much of a help but there is literally ALOT to do in Orlando lol. Too much to list. Hope your trip turns out good though.

Oh and for the weather, just bring some pants and a light jacket. Don't know how cold it gets up in the Bay but here in FL it's not that bad, too me at least

I got a time share condo in Orlando resort right next to Walmart by SeaWorld and Disney.

Uhm cost me $250, at resort condo for 2weeks.

I got my Disney tickets 2 parks 2 days for 2 people for $50.

They resell the used tickets at stores there. Check craigslist.

Went to universal night park and hit up orange st for some happy endings...

Check outI think is Ripley museum its a house upside down and tilted.

Really nothing at night for family but once u get to Orlando u can find everything because all the spots are closely bunch and advertised hard with road signs

I'm going to be going to Orlando next month just to get away.  I am still looking for a place to stay in the $80/night range.  Any suggestions?  I'm not interested in Disney World or anything like that.  Also, what local restaurants do you guys recommend?
