i rewatched the game and some things of note:
-marcus martin was really bad. he's pretty much a rookie, so ill cut him some slack; however, those mental lapses will kill us if they continue. he really needs to make strides asap because he's throwing the whole line off. dude was repeatedly snapping it on the wrong counts and calling the wrong pass protections.
-although his snaps were limited, arik armstead looked pretty damn good. hard to miss him when he's on the field. his strength is ridiculous.
-kap, kap, kap. very proud of this guy. definitely making the strides we need him to make. he looks very, very poised under durress, eyes are married to his feet and kept his eyes downfield. he continues to demonstrate that he can, contrary to popular belief, go through his progressions. i dont know if it was harbaugh or not, but kap is finally using his check down.
that fade to torrey for the 2pt conversion.... BEAUTIFUL!!
i dont want to jump to conclusions, but i've seen this progression as a QB before..#8... the greatest gift harbaugh ever gave us could be the QB kap becomes. i believe the best position coach on the staff is our QB coach steve logan. i think he will be huge for kap's development.
-secondary looked tired and out of sync. reid and bethea accounted for many blown assignments. this will happen when you try to disguise your secondary looks as much as we do. it can leave you running back to your assignment and vulnerable to bad angles/positioning. a lot of blame needs to be directed towards the lack of pass rush. pittsburgh was max protecting all day. they game planned for lynch and had a RB or TE help block him the entire game. nobody else was getting any heat on the qb.
- i said it all offseason: i worry about the way los runs. he's too damn reckless and absorbs too much punishment. he needs to implement some of that Franky G to his game, or else he will be on the IR very soon.
onto AZ. This is for first place, so I expect our squad to be ready.
