I just got seriously back into lifting in december... was taking No Epxlode... then switched it up to Cytonox... and then cycled off for about a month...

After getting used to lifting on that stuff.. I hate working out w/o it... on leg day I get way to sore about half way through my workout... never noticed howbig of a difference that stuff really makes

whey protein before and after workout, fishoil, normal vitamines (glucosamine, calcium), leukic (muscletech), hydroxycut (muscletech), not really sure ifit's working cause i only started a week ago.. and lots of water during work out

currently nothing. I need to buy some stuff though..theres some good @$%% out there.

TheYoungestGun- do you feel bloated when you take a protein shake before a workout? i usually just take it after my workout. bright nikes- superpump250 andsizeon? dang man, how much did that run you? you taking sizeon powder or the capsules?

nope, not bloated at all.. it's just that you need protein in your system to feed your muscles why you train... but i also take it after... some people useit as meal replacements.

ya i know, im just saying, do you take it like 40 minutes before you start? i always do it after, and sometimes during the day s like a snack in between meals.

Is your avy a mix between Obama and bush??!?!

SuperPump
ON Oats & Whey
Fish/Flax Oil

OP I suggest taking a month and switching up your workouts to full body, 3 times per week. That way your "leg days" arent just 45-60 minutes ofstraight legs once a week. You can find some nice programs online. And your soreness in key spots typically will reduce and you will then depend less on supps.

That is if I was reading that right.

I keep saying this every time a thread like this comes up.... Protein BEFORE a workout is incredibly unnecessary. It's useless. It'sjust a waste of money.

^ And what are you suggesting? Lift on empty stomach? Carb up? Supplement up? Other?

What about the person who lifts at 6AM? Or 6PM? Does that change?

Stating flatly "NO protein before your workouts" is not exactly something that has ever been a part of lifting theories regardless.

Reading is fundamental. He said NOTHING about taking protein shake before you work out. He said the TIMING of your protein intake is essential, which it is. What youre trying to achieve through working out also has an impact just like he said. I don't disagree with anything he said, but its important tounderstand what he's saying.

Lifting on an empty stomach is never a good idea. I wouldn't suggest "carbing up" but a small amount of carbs before you work out is always a good idea.

The problem with anyone giving advice here (myself included, im not immune to this) is that there's a lot of general statements thrown out and general advice given. When I said that taking as protein shake before a workout is necessary, I was going off of the assumption that the shake was taken directly before the workout. (such as on the way to the gym, in the locker room... that kind of before) If the shake is taken an hour or 2 before the workout then that changes a lot of the suggestions/advice.

For someone who lifts at 6 am the choices are obviously going to the slim, so a protein source is advised. (Not because of the workout, but because your body needs it for the day in general.)

Im not saying to not take protein, but the idea of taking a protein shake before a workout FOR that workout is unnecessary.

Just trying to get bigger/ more cut I suppose.

I've been lifting since I was 14 so its just become kind of like a hobby

I think right now I just would like to get in better shape, and look better than I have at any point in my life

I havent Maxed out in years, but currently squatting more than I ever have before 315 X 6... which isnt a lot... but consider I had trouble doing 275 twicebefore... feels pretty good. Benched 275 X 8.... would like to eventually rep 315, and my deadlift max right now is 405 X 1

you said it, reading is fundamental...

Timing your protein intake for before and after your workouts heavily impacts your fitness goals...

meaning you should take protein before you work out cause it impacts your fitness goals...timing most of the time 30 minutes to an hour before, otherwise yourbody will just burn it and not use it while you lift!

it's almost impossible to do both at the same time.. you either slim down and get cut or you lift heavier and get big. cant do both at the same time.besides i heard roids make your testes shrink.
