Well I recently purchase a pair of air max classic si for about 15 bucks on ebay. The soles etc are like new. Theres no rips/tears etc... thing is there are scuffs on the leather and the white midsoles have flaked paint missing.

Pictures worth a 1,000 words. Any guidance or direction on how to freshen up the midsoles and rid the scuffs on the toes would be appreciated.

Those were a steal!!

The condition isnt bad, they just need little touch ups

I would give them a general cleaning on all the mesh and laces,

For the scuffs on the front toebox, a nice thin layer of paint

And for the white chipping on the midsole, if you did a repaint

which invovles stripping the old paint off and repainting it with new white paint

You would see a huge difference!

I did the cleaning actually used baking soda and peroxide and got the canvas laces etc to look like new. As far as paint I wouldn't even know where to start as far as prepping and and what kinda paint to use. And what would I need to do as far as stripping the paint and repainting.

Yea they were a steal actually got some waffle trainers pretty much same condition but toe is black and midsole is white and has a little chipping and the swoosh is grey reflexive and got those for $18 bucks with 6 dollar shipping. Once I get the air max classics done I think it would be easy/similar to do the waffles.

There are so many videos on youtube explaining and going through the whole process,

Try looking at a couple, get a gist of everything and if you have any other questions etc

Post them here or shoot me a pm, I`d be glad to help you

thnx man I seen a lot of videos etc... and most say strip the leather etc... and im kinda uncomfortable doing that...plus it seems kinda unnecessary especially considering the shoes have like maybe a few scuffs that are at best a few cm. in size... I don't wanna use white shoe polish because that would seem to come across kinda tacky and it seem like the scrapes would still show due to the polish color not being heavy.

Iuno it just seems like a lot of work overkill aka too much extra to strip the color paint on an entire shoe, just to touch up a few spots that at best make up less then 5% of the shoe.

Iuno if im describing it well...but I guess I see it like a automobile... if you had like a scuff on the bumper and a few 2/3 scratches on the hood... it would be a waste of time/money/resources to prime strip bondo sand the entire car just for those few superficial blemishes.

Surely the same can be done with shoes.

I understand exactly what you mean

For the scuffs on the leather on the front of the shoe I wouldnt strip all the paint, I would just touch up the small scuffs

Only for the midsole I would strip off all the old paint because there is so much cracking

But what you said about the scuffs in the leather makes a lot of sense, it would be overkill to strip off all the old paint
