Dying leather on Jordan 11 low or painting midsoles on Jordan 6 low for beginner?

I would like to do either on of these, depending on ease of application and longevity:

Jordan 11 low with croc portion dyed black

Jordan 6 low with midsoles, Jumpman and heel tab painted gold (similar to DMP 6s)

I'm a total beginner and will start researching what I need to buy as soon as I make a decision. Just curious to hear your opinions based upon your previous work. Thanks
