Whatever dog you get, make sure you are willing to put the time in to take care of it. They require a lot of attention.
The first thing I do when I get up in the morning is pee the dogs. I give them fish oils, then I feed them, then I walk them. Throughout the day I take themoutside to pee. At night time I feed them and then walk them again. Mix in plenty of time giving them attention, and at the end of the day you're lookingat 1-2 hours out of your day. EVERY day. When you make plans, you need to fit your dog(s) into them.
I had a roommate who had an 80 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback that he ignored. It lived amongst it's own urine and feces. He actually got a citation from thepolice department for animal cruelty. I got fed up with it one day and picked up 15-20 piles of crap that were in our little back yard where the dog stayed. Itnever got attention. He never walked it. He barely acknowledged it when he went to give it food. It was really sad.
So before you go into dog ownership, seriously, make sure you can commit to giving it a good home, because otherwise you're just depriving that animal of apotentially good life somewhere else (or euthanasia).
