I have traveled all ends of the internet looking for a clear answer regarding this...so spare me thegoogle.com responses. I'd like to utilize my new laptop as a monitor for my 360. Simple.

Here are my specifications for an HP Pavillion dv6000 running Windows Vista Home Premium:
  • AMD Athlon (tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-53
  • 1.93 GB RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150
  • 15.4" HD BrightView widescreen display
I've seen some people suggest using a TV Tuner. So, I bought one. Here is the link description. It connects via USB to mylaptop and has an adapter for me to plug in the AV cables from the 360? Good? Eh...decent.

Here is the picture quality.

Decent...but it doesn't look too great full screen. Now, I have also seen many people suggesting a simple VGA cable here to plug into...

I'm sure a VGA cable will produce a better quality picture since they are made for HDTVs...correct? Someone help?

Geniuses?

I tried doing that once with my xbox and a tv-tuner and it didn't turn out too well. There was like a .5 second response difference because of thetransferring data from xbox to the tv-tuner and then to the computer. I've never tried the vga though.. sounds interesting.

yup, I had one for my PS2 and it worked perfectly. I'm sure it'll be good on the 360 as well

And how did you view the video in itself? What did you do for the audio?

Laptops have Video OUT, not in.

You can't use your laptop screen for external electronic equipment unless you have a TV Tuner. But the quality will not only be standard def but be verylow.

You can get a VGA cable for your 360 and connect it for a CRT monitor.

The main part of my device had speaker input/outputs. But I was just using a regular computer monitor at work, I guess laptops are different

i wouldnt do that...and besides you dont have a VGA out....so you would need a tuner...plus if you have a good video card the signal quality will suck

That's a monitor/lcd, you can do it with that, but with a laptop, I think we are out of luck when it comes to wanting to use it for a output device.

Damn I just googled it and thanks, but the price is a little to high for me right now.

You're done for tonight. You got church in the morning.

I have researched that. I was looking for something to buy locally. I think I would have to order that.

^ See again, that is the standard def connection.
There will be lag and the quality will be poor.
There is no way to do this unless you're willing to put up with the low picture quality and lag.

Then why wouldn't this work? The TV Tuner worked but I wasn't feeling the quality.
