Does anyone on NT have any experience in getting into the political world?

I volunteered a little bit for a guy running for mayor in my college town but other than that I don't have much experience at all.  I was interested to see if anyone could give any advice, I know family and business connections are the most important but I would really like to get my foot in the door.  I'm sure NT isn't the best venue to ask for this but there always seems to be a few people who can offer a helping hand.

If I were you, I'd read the memoirs of politicians you admire or read up on their paths. 

Sometimes, it seems like its way easier than it sounds.

There have been a lot of young mayors in small cities.

Best start is an internship with a local politician. Being in the office will give you experience and political perspective. There's a good chance some job experience in the political sphere can change your mind about it as a career, not to be cynical.
