BEAUTY AND THE BEAST Makes $16.3 Million From Thursday Previews

It is being reported that Disney's Beauty and the Beast made a whopping $16.3 million from last night's preview screenings. This is the highest grossing Thursday preview number of the year so far and the biggest live-action Disney film, which is more than fellow Disney films like Cinderalla ($2.3 million) and The Jungle Book ($4.2 million).

Early estimates from box office experts say that Disney's Beauty and the Beast will take in a massive $65-68 million today, which includes the Thursday night preview number. This range from today means that the Disney flick will make somewhere between $165-175 million, with a chance of an even higher opening weekend.

saw Beauty and the Beast last night, Thought it was great, wasn't really feeling Emma as Belle but everyone else shined and I was banking on that anyways, few nitpicking things I didn't like but solid movie for sure

:lol
I'm certainly not going to go out of my way to bash her or say she was horrible by any means, she was fine, but I was hoping for a little more of the bubbly personality we get from the cartoon, I completely understand why she wasn't that though, there was also a scene they changed that I was actually expecting to be the point where I connected with her character and since it wasn't there I just wasn't feeling her.

Was really surprised at Emma Watson's singing chops. **** was angelic. Would leave gf for her 10/10.

Disney's Beauty and the Beast was only projected to make somewhere between $120-$140 millon for its domestic opening weekend, but now it is being reported that the Disney flick has made well above that range. Beauty and the Beast has made a whopping $170 million this weekend at the domestic box office. This beats the previous March record set by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($166 million) last year. This also makes it the second highest grossing opening weekend featuring a female lead after Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Chances are that Beauty and the Beast will keep the highest grossing opening weekend of the year until Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The weekend breakdown for the Disney flick is...

Friday: $63.7 million
Saturday: $62.7 million
Sunday: $43.4 million

The Sataurday is so huge that it's the highest grossing Saturday ever just after Jurassic World ($69.6 million), Marvel's The Avengers ($69.5 million), and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($68.2 million). Experts are saying that Beauty and the Beast could even have a much larger Sunday than what is being estimated, it could go as high as $50 million and this would make its opening weekend $177 million, which would beat Iron Man 3 ($174 million). Due to its great audience reception and just the way family blockbusters work, Beauty and the Beast is projected to reach a massive $500 million domestic overall.

Overseas, the Disney flick has made $180 million, and this is without it being opened in big markets like Australia and Japan. Unfortunately, the film was banned in Russia and Malaysia for its so-called "gay controversy." Nevertheless, Beauty and the Beast is expected to make around $650-750 million overseas, which would mean a worldwide total of $1.15-1.25 billion. Have you already watched this masterpiece? Sound off below!

Lol so I'm watching Beauty and the Beast tonight..

I was going to wait a week but the praise by ppl I've talked to was pretty high, so..

For those who saw Beauty and the Beast, how handsome is the Prince at the end? And does he smash Belle in beast form?

The prince is the dude from Legion if you've seen that show.

I thought dude was okay looking, almost on the older side. But, you knew it couldn't be someone too good looking because it would overshadow Watson's Belle.

Of the Disney live action remakes, Beauty and the Beast might just be the best one. I'd put it up there with Malifecent (if you would count Malifecent as a remake).

Disney's record with the live action remakes have been ok so far...

Cinderella was just ok.

I did not like the Jungle Book.

It looks to me like Disney is learning... I am really looking forward to the Aladdin and Mulan remakes now.

Wow at those numbers. Their movies are dope. I like them.
Malifecent
Jungle book
Cinderella

Have all been dope
