I need some quick advice answering any of the few questions I have on a customization project. Any help would be really appreciated. My favorite shoe right now is the Jordan Spizike. So, after I bought ANOTHER pair of them I decided to try my hand at making a custom pair. I want to make something like these Tiffany V's, Tiffany VI's, or Gift Box Blue VI's. Here is what they look like:

So I have a pair of Bordeaux Spizikes that look like this that I picked up for cheap on eBay.

So what I am guessing that I have to change is the whole upper, midsole, possibly elephant print, lace locks, laces, and tongue. Here is where I am having problems. I am going to buy Angelus paints of black, gift box blue, duller, matte finisher, and leather preparer. Is there anything else I need. also, here are the main issues I see that I need some advice on:

How do I stop midsole cracking if I paint them black? Also, do I have to dye them to retain the color longer. Does the dark grey part above the blue need special treatment because it is a different material (between nubuck and leather).

How do I paint the plastic yellow top and below rubber part under it that the laces go through?

I guess I have to leave this as I cannot reach the yellow under the blue.

How do I paint the lacelock?

IS IT POSSIBLE TO PAINT THE PLASTIC JUMPMAN UNDER THE LACE LOCK NEATLY? As of now I am just going to paint the whole tongue black.

Also, how can I change the color of the webbing/netting to black?

Thanks for all of the help.

Id suggest painting the base shoe before worrying about the details.

I agree, start with painting what you do know will work

Then work out the details after

But remember, Prep is everything when it comes to painting!
