Car Audio Heads I NEED HELP!

Hey so my Bday is coming up and i wanted to treat myself to some car audio. I don't know the first thing about this %@% though. So I have a couplequestions how much $ will it run you for a nice system? And one more Q: If I have a Stock Bose system can i just add an Amp and a Sub and the speakerswon't blow out?

anyways i would say about $500-$1000 for a decent one if your going to install yourself.
