I ams selling my Laptop but before I do I want to erase EVERYTHING so no one could access any of my files and what I had stored on my computer, what is the bestway to do this?

I was going to say "take the hd out and smash it to bits" but I guess the new owner would want a hd included.

if you re-format it, it'll be as if you bought it brand new. if you don't know how to do that, try google...or maybe someone else will respond becauseI don't feel like typing and explaining it out.

1) Take out HDD

2) Pick up strong magnet

3) put em together.

or just replace the HDD. Not really many options to erasing EVERYTHING since the computer turns deleted/destroyed files into overwritten memory space.

^^^ Reformatting is easy. Just put in the recovery disk that came with the computer and restart the CPU. Boot from the disk and follow the steps. There areYoutube videos on how to do this.

^^hes right. Your going to have to get a new HDD so they wont see what you had in there.

If its straight porn, then whats the big deal?

F a free copy of Vista, I'd pay extra if I could have 40 gigs of porn built in

Electromagnetic waves........

I suggest sticking your hard drive in a microwave.

Everything will be erased.....everything lmaooo.,

Get a new hard drive and motherboard. Basically get a new computer. There's always information left regardless of how many times you reformat. If someonewanted to go through the intensive process of collecting and restoring that jumbled data, it would be very difficult, but it can be done.

sorry to all the immature people but it has nothing to do with porn, I have a few documents saved with important account numbers/password etc.
