We recently reported that 'Back to the Future' will be making a special appearance in theaters to celebrate its 25th anniversary and the upcoming release of the entire trilogy on Blu-ray -- but only in England. But don't despair! Things are about to get heavy at AMC theatres here in the US, too.
The movie chain is showing the digitally remastered version of 'Back to the Future' across the country on Saturday, October 23rd, and Monday, October 25th, which, if you'll remember, is the exact day that Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) climbed in Doc's DeLorean to travel back to 1955. Rewatching 'Back to the Future' on the day Marty traveled back in time and almost screwed up his and his parents' lives could, in fact, trigger some sort of space-time wormhole where we all end up back in the '80s, sipping on Tab and listening to Huey Lewis and the News. In fact, I'm a little concerned that this could cause a massive 'Hot Tub Time Machine' event where we're all back in the '80s searching for our "great white buffalo."
In any case, AMC is offering movie-goers full-sized 'Back to the Future' posters and related goodies in the 40 cities where these special screenings take place. (Chances are not good that it's a DeLorean or a special appearance of Christopher Lloyd at your birthday party, but you can always hope.)
Before Darth Vader comes down from planet Vulcan to melt your brain, your density should bring you to the official AMC website to get the details. And if you feel like hosting your own 'Back to the Future' party, you can visit the mall parking lot in California where they filmed part of the movie, but your own awesome Flux Capacitor or convert your DeLorean. To get you in the mood, check out the music video for "The Power of Love" by Huey Lewis and the News below, as well as a promo for the new Blu-ray.
