AM1 white/team red, HOA or 2009 QS, which is better ?

Hello NT,

I'm digging the AM1 in it's original color white/team red. I can buy some HOA for 120$ NDS, or the '09 QS for 70$ DS.
I'm wondering how the quality is on both of them, I heard here and there that HOA are waaayyyy better, but do they worth the price difference ?

Your help is needed and will be appreciated a lot ...

i have the 09' and i dont have any complaints personally, honestly the hoa is prolly better and all but for the 50 bux extra i dunno....2 for 140 or 1 for120 i dont thinks its that hard of a descision...not to mention that the hoa is also used...eitherway ur gonna rock them i assume so why get one when u can getone to rock and one to stock

I bought the 2009 and it impressed me, I think its a good fit. Its not like Jordans where there is a drastic difference in retros past

Keep in mind that the 2009s are known to have paint cracking on their midsoles (like a lot of recent AM1s, unfortunately). If that's going to bother you,go for the HOAs. The higher mudguard and better shape on the HOAs are other pluses going for it. $70 is a good price, though.

i got 2 or 3 pairs of HOA and about 4 of these new QS ones, and honestly i dont have any complaints, i would for price sake go for QS cause of the pricepoint.... also check the outlet thread, some dudes are scoopin for $60 shipped

I think quality is better on the HOA but for the price go with the QS. Also, like AM87 said u could get em even cheaper if u check out the outlets.

I'd go with the 2009 QS, it'll hold up longer and the quality difference is so minimal

if you're picky about your retros like I am, and money is not a big issue, then get the HOA's. the shape is better, the materials are better, thecolors are a little more on point from what I've seen. the 09's are prone to having toe box shape issues. mine are shaped awkwardly around the edge ofthe toe where the synthetic suede meets the mesh. it's not rounded, it's more square on both shoes. also, there seems to be a tan tint to the greysynthetic suede. the midsoles to tend to crack fairly easily on the 09s too, but it's not something you notice unless you are looking up close. ifyou're not picky, then get the QS, they are comfortable and look OK, but if you're more of a purist, HOA all the way. I would gladly pay the extramoney if it were me. I paid $110 shipped for the QS when they released. $120 for the HOA's would've been a no-brainer for me.

all in all the 09 is a good shoe...like denver said hoa's shape and quality is way better but for the price dif in the qs its not that big of a differenceto me, especially since i just got 2 pairs

for 120 from the outlet in kissimmee, and also like denver i paid 110 when they first dropped un patiently. new beaters and 2 to stock. im happy

The HOA's are better, but not by much. It's up to you, if your money is tight, go with the '09's since they are cheaper and DS.

I have 1 pair of HOA's and 2 of the 09's *shrugs*

Thanks everybody for your replies, I really appreciate you took some time to help me out.
I took the HOAs, mainly because you do not see a lot of them for sell right now (especially compared to QS I mean), but the QS sell for so cheap that I thinkI'm gonna buy one pair of these also, $60, that does not hurt that much for such a great pair ...

i have both hoa and qs.. to tell you the truth when you have em on ur feet, theres really nothing visible that seperates em.. got my qs for outlet price of69.99, for that price small imperfections to the hoa are insignificant

I wouldve paid 120 for the HOA just like you did. I had the QS and the crooked toe shape drove me nuts. Im still looking for an HOA pair in a 9.5.

I completely disagree. The HOA @#(# all over the '09. I'm trying to get rid of my pair. They're terrible. I'll post a comparison pic unlesssomeone beats me to it. The red mudguard practically disappeared on the QS.

as a few others mention, quality and shape are superior on HOAs. surprised no one mentioned the tongue. the tongues on the QS's annoy me. the HOA tongue islonger and has the OG piping.

... im very picky though.

The one thing I do prefer on the 2009s is the thicker tongues. They just feel better to me. If Nike used the HOA shape and mudguard, with the 2009 tongue andbetter midsole paint on AM1s, they would hit a grand slam.
