I have a simple question that I haven't been able to track down in searches. I picked up a pair of Lebron XI "Diffused Jade" and wanted to just do a simple gold speckle pattern on the armorposite material, along with possibly doing an outline on the base swoosh(plastic).

I know Angelus isn't the perfect approach(since I'm not painting leather), but it seems the most recommended. Just wondering if there's a real difference if I use another similar paint--Angelus is next to impossible to get a hold of in Canada.

Appreciate it, that's what I was looking for. Do you know offhand how much I should dilute the acrylic?

Uhhh I would not water down the acrylic paint, I mean it should work, but since acrylic is water based it probably wouldn't last too long on the armorposite material. If you want to thin the acrylic paint try to use an actual thinner (angelus sells thinner, but I know your whole point was to avoid angelus paints). I haven't painted on foamposites yet, and in all honestly I am quite nervous too as I have heard many different results. So Good Luck, and be sure to post your results (good or bad so we can all learn)!

Btw I live in Canada and it isn't difficult at all to buy angelus paint. I buy from turtlefeather.com,  and he ships fast and makes sure to avoid any import taxes when shipping. So it is actually quite possible.

Hah, I apologize for the terrible questions. Got what I need though, and will definitely post pics when it's done. Thanks.

Also-- RE: Angelus in Canada, it is pretty easy just grabbing a bottle online, but the shipping is generally the issue. Amazon wanted to charge $18 shipping on a $3 bottle, Etsy $13, some websites $12. I ended up finding a good deal on Ebay with good shipping, but wanted to confirm whether Angelus was explicitly needed for this project. Still a bummer that you can't just walk into a craft store and pick up a bottle.
