Hello all!
Newbie here..
I’ve come across an old pair of Nike running shoes that I bought in the UK around 2007 for about £20, and I’m trying to understand exactly what they are and whether anyone here knows anything about their history.
The internal label details are:
Style code: 313553-661
Manufactured: 05/15/07 – 07/07/07
What caught my attention is that the shoes have “VAPORFLY” branding on the heel, despite predating the famous modern Vaporfly line by roughly a decade.
I contacted Nike support out of curiosity, and they identified the product internally as “Nike Vaporfly 2007”, but stated they were not historically connected to the later Vaporfly project.
I can find almost nothing online about this model or the early use of the Vaporfly branding, so I wondered whether anyone here:
* recognises the exact model,
* remembers this release,
* has old catalogues/archive material,
* or knows whether “Vaporfly” was an older Nike Running naming concept that later got revived.
Attached are photos of the shoes and labels.
Not trying to claim I’ve found some hidden grail — I just found the early Vaporfly branding genuinely interesting from a Nike Running history perspective.
Interestingly, I did actually use these for a couple of race seasons and many hard training sessions back in the day. Despite being relatively lightweight performance shoes for the era, they have held up surprisingly well structurally and are still in fairly decent condition today.
