The restart button has never sounded so good after last season's underachieving failure. A complete meltdown that was pretty much a lost season for a lot of guys. As much as I wanted Howard to work out here going forward, seeing him opt out was such a relief and I am glad to see he won't eat up any more of our cap in his current state. Didn't have a complete roster clear out, but Josh Smith, Dwight, Jason Terry, and especially Terrence Jones not being resigned is a godsend. Barring health of Nene, Gordon, and Anderson, and with the unpredictability of the Western Conference after the Warriors, we may actually be able to do something. I'm predicting a 5th seed finish, and Harden making up for his lost season last year. Need him to change some narratives that the national media continue to put out there. Saw mostly good things in the pre-season as far as the style of play, so I'm just gonna keep the jury out on Mike D'Antoni as far as coaching goes. There's too many young guys on this team for them not to play, and to not have some type of positive impact on the game. Capela, Dekker, KJ and Harrell all have to show up on film and on the stat sheet. Even Wiltjer and possibly Gary Payton II may have to do something, depending on whether or not they end up in Rio Grand Valley or not. Ariza has to play solid defense, and contribute on the offensive end as well. He had too many times where he went through offensive slumps last year. The PG position is gonna be a bit :rolleyes due to Bev's injury and now surgery. And Corey Brewer is also still apart of this team. I feel like he should be involved in a trade soon, whether right now, near the trade deadline. Rockets bball byke :smokin

Well I guess I'm just looking at it differently because for the most part I agreed with what the guy was saying.

Hell its what I've been saying since before the season ended.

yea, just looking at Dwight Howard's history....he's an actual clown (in the context of media)

besides that, his minutes SHOULD HAVE declined (he was hurt with the mins he did get) and developing other guys SHOULD HAVE been a priority.

This makes it sound like they wanted to bench him and

Well I I think it was clear they wanted to phase him out for whatever reason they wanted to.

I just didn't think that story broke anything new or something eye popping that we didn't know.

yea i agree, except for idk about "phase him out" as opposed to just restrict his minutes as it related to other players mins and his health. We could still have been a competitive playoff team while developing some younger guys.

I think he ultimately phased himself out over time by not really rocking with this plan for the future. Once the Rox saw his interest waining, I think that's when he was being phased out/moved on from.

Plus good riddance anyway...Can't recruit anybody with his antics...JH isnt the most loved around the league, but people know they can eat alongside him. Can't have that tandem trying to recruit. Gonna be all fail.

Dwight wanted more back to basket work and we just wanted him to be Deandre Jordan. It could have all been so simple

Sam Dekker should be in heavy rotation by game 15-20. I like the added dimension he brings to the squad. Liked his game at Wisconsin, he played well during the preseason and dude can be a lofty contributor if given the opportunity.

This. Dwight continued to think he was 2009 Dwight, when it was 5 years later and his offense and general skill set became very predictable. As much as I wanted him to success here, I am very glad we don't have to worry about "feeding Dwight", only for him to be fouled, brick FTs, miss easy layups or get stripped as soon as the ball touches his hands. I've seen people in the NBA thread talk about how great Dwight looked during pre-season. Well, at times, he looked great last year too. But I wouldn't bank on his having an epiphany and magically putting everything together in just a couple months.Dwight will be the same Dwight he's always been, no matter how hard people have been trying to get through to him, nor how hard he has worked and how much he says the right things. When the pressure is on and you're late in your career, you always go back to your natural state and reactions. I don't expect it to be any different in an Atlanta jersey.

He quit one he saw we were publicly trying to trade him, he said that himself. Once they couldn't do that that's when the team started to phase him out. They didn't want him to opt in.

Whatever Harden's role in having to do with that remains to be seen and I still think he has way too much organizational influence. The Rockets have to reel some of that back in, somehow.

agreed, and I love that he can play some 4. I wasnt exactly expecting him to be able to do that in the NBA

He reminds me a lot of Chandler Parsons when he was in Houston. An unassuming wiry slasher with a respectable mid-range jumper and 3-point shot. I hate his rookie campaign was riddled with injuries. Hope the kid stays in good health this season. Could be a huge wild card.

With the new CBA? (And pending increase again)

I guess his value was declining. Either way, I think he over-valued himself and that ultimately lead to the slide

They didn't want him to opt in because that would've hindered their ability to chase Durant.

sounds like TMZ level gossip. I once wished upon a star myself, but Durant wasn't coming here regardless.

and effectively it still equates to the same even if true...Dwight over-valuing himself. If we actually do have the ability to obtain durant then he needs to have multiple seats and do wtf ever he's asked to make it happen :lol

I like the Ennis keeper. Pablo is the crafty vet with experience but Tyler has more upside.

Looks like the final roster is officially on deck. They were planning on releasing Tyler Ennis, but instead, they cut Pablo Prigioni

I think I'm glad we did that. I kinda wanted Payton II to work out. Dude is athletic and won DPOY twice in the Pac 12

Feel the same, though I didn't exactly see a whole bunch of standout stuff from Ennis in the preseason. But the upside is definitely there, so I'm not mad with them rolling with youth and the unknown vs age and experience
