It might seem like it's not a big deal, but it's the one opportunity you have to earn his respect and start off your new life together on the right foot.

You'll never be able to change it if you don't, and if you do and it goes south, you'll know from the get go where things are.

Moral of the story: I hope your girl is economically responsible... Because a large amount of people's debt comes from doing it super big on their wedding day.

My wedding was ~$90K. I proposed May of 2012 and we got married this past Nov. Me and her split it and the Wedding is completely paid off

Marriage is something I think about often but I can never definitively decide on whether I'll take that step in life. At this point, the chips are pretty much stacked on both sides of the table. I see the pros, I see the cons.

One question I have been thinking about lately is this: how do you cope with the body changes?

I feel as if there's a lot of truth to the notion of "I married you a certain way, I expect you to stay that way". Now I know changes will come as we grow older together, but that's just life. I just wonder how I would deal with my wife putting on weight after childbirth and stuff. I could divulge in to this more, but I hate typing paragraphs on mobile. You guys get the gener idea.

The biggest cost is the venue because you're paying per person there and it depends on the day/time. You can save money by having it off-season and on a Friday/Sunday instead of Saturday. My personal date was a Saturday in November so the venue charged $220 per person and we had 275 people there. $220x275 = $6050 off the bat, plus 20% gratuity ($ 1210), you're already at ~$65K. DJ, Photos, Videographer, photo booth, Limos, rehearsal dinner and bridal party gifts/misc were another ~$20K and then honeymoon costs.

No worries, I'm not offended because I don't know you. but I mean, that's all on me for being lazy. It fit good when I got fitted in the summer and I gained a few pounds since and I had to get a last minute size change the night before but whatever, not everything goes smooth, I guess.

As far as her engagement ring was concerned. I told her straight up, "I want you to design your engagement ring.". We went to a "mom and pop" jewelry store where she designed exactly what she wanted, and it came out really dope. If you have the ability to get it designed, DO IT. LESS STRESS. DO NOT GO TO JARED'S, ZALES, KAY, ect. They all have the same **** and piss poor quality. She got a 14k yellow gold setting ($800) and 3/4 ct. VS1 near colorless diamond and 1/4 ct. for a bezel for $3,000 (Reason: There is not middle-man with mom and pop places). At the other stores listed, you wont get that quality for the price. On top of it, the appraised it for around 7k for insurance purposes.


Our wedding is in Dec. probably looking at 30k for around 60 people. Venue and food are the biggest.

Also, yeah, independent jewelers are the way to go. I learned a lot shopping for diamonds and was able to splurge for a really nice one. That appraisal price really makes you feel nice too.

Two of my co-worker just recently proposed at a phillies game. They nervous as all hell about it but in the end decided to just WIO.

Their biggest thing was making their own ring. You will get better quality in the long run.

My homie also did the whole through greek a apple at her thing while they were jogging. She knew the reference though. If you decide on this route make sure to aim for the head homie

Greenwich Jewelers (two blocks away from World Trade Center site) and when you decide to propose, don't get on one knee
