My 3rd, or maybe it was my 4th replacement band broke end Dec (2014). I contacted Nike, sent it backat the beginning of Jan and got my new fuel band about two weeks later.
Yes, it was a 1st gen. Those "gouges" appeared, the button stopped working and then the clasp fell apart while I was out for a run. <-Had that one from Aug or Sep until beginning of May. Received the SE in 3 days....was pleasantly surprised.
The band is an XL...doesn't stay in one spot for me to hit it in the same spot over and over again. It's not weird, the fuelband is a piece of crap.
The rubber isn't "dented" and the material isn't "worn down", the band is caving in - picture is a little deceiving. Looks like there are chunks...
I replaced my fuelband for the second time, in August 2013. I noticed last week that the band is starting to breakdown, for lack of a better term. I am so done with this product.
