Depending on the weight and other characteristics, these may be good winter trainers for those of us who run in snow over the winter months. The Zegama seems to be overkill for that use (as well as heavy).
EddBud should have his review of the ZF5 out soon. I spoke to him in the corral at the Asics London 10K and he said his arrived while he was on his way to London.
(By the way, he's awesome in person)
I don't think it's an overreaction when others are pointing it out as well. Why was the Peg 36 was in the mid-9oz range and the current Peg is an ounce heavier. Every Nike shoe is getting heavier, and if you don't think that makes a difference over the course of a long run, then why do they...
And EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE is an absolute brick. Pretty much every other major manufacturer has a daily trainer in the 8.0-9.0oz range. When every Nike is an ounce heavier, that's A LOT of extra weight over the course of a long run. That's an extra pound that your legs have to move every...
I've been saying this since they discontinued the Zoom Elite line. The training shoe line is an absolute mess of shoes that weigh as much as a brick. Honestly, I'm looking at training in the Adidas Adios now. Nike has no training shoes in the 8.0-9.0oz range.
I know you're disappointed, but that's a HUGE chunk of time to take off. I remember when I was trying to run sub-20 in the 5K. I was sure that I was close for about a year and had a long string of 20:12 finishes. Then finally, it happened and broke through with a 19;48. I will tell you that...
They do! I'll take it - the Elite 9 is my favorite shoe ever. I'm reserving my excitement until the weight is announced. They way Nike has been going, they'll probably weigh 10.6oz rather than ~8.0oz. :emoji_rolling_eyes:
Absolutely this. Nike needs to make their shoes lighter, not heavier. Seems as if ever shoe they have is 9.2oz+. Uhh, how about something closer to 8.2oz-8.5oz for a daily trainer. All of their competitors have shoes in this weight range for a daily trainer, but Nike has exactly *zero* shoes...
