Canon does not have a 18-55 f/2.8 but I know you meant 17-55 2.8 ... If you are planning on moving to FF in the near future I'll say buy the 17-40L but if you sticking with crop this is a no brainer 17-55IS - I'm willing to say buy the 17-55 and when go to FF sell it and buy the 24-70 2.8...

What would you guys recommend if you were choosing between the 17-40 F4L or the 18-55 f2.8? I'm looking for something to take street, travel, and candidportraits with.

Does anyone have an XSI and 17-40 F/4L combo? Care to share some pics? I'm thinking of biting the bullet and making this my first big lens purchase.

I thought the movie was pretty good, and did a good job of following the book almost to a T, aside from the ending from what I've heard ( i only read half ) Anyway, my non-review can be found at my blog.

I prefer digital because of the instant feedback you get. When you look at picture you know exactly why it turned out the way it did, and whatsettings were used so you can correct, or take the same type of picture in the future. thats why its my preference.
