Lynda.com and/or youtube to learn how to use the programs.
Remember, because you know how to use the programs doesn't mean you're a designer.
In no way am I trying to be a jerk or stop you from learning design. I'm just trying to protect the craft.
If you really want to be a designer, take...

You work you'll do with them will be seen by a buttload of designers across the US.
My friend at Deutsch (ad agency) informed me that they will be doing a summer creative residency program.
I don't know the details, but it sounds like a great opportunity to do work with and learn from a top player in the advertising world.
Deutsch Summer Creatives
You should be able to get...
For sure.
Check the FB often. I post internships/job opportunities I come across all the time. I just posted that Huge in LA is looking for interns. Deutsch is looking I believe. Ignited in El Segundo is looking.
Good luck.
Hey dude! I noticed you're at CSULB. Go to the "CSULB Graphic Design Alumni Group" on Facebook. Alumni post a bunch of internships, part-time, freelance, etc.
As for your resumé I would make sure you design that thing properly. Usually that and your cover letter are the first thing they...
Along with what FongStarr pointed out I would also add that you need to be conscious of the page. The paragraphs are hugging that red stroke too much. It's cramped. It creates a tension that looks to be unintentional. Removing the extra drop caps might (and possibly reducing the black edges...

Your work is competent and doesn't suck. It's well designed.
But, I can't honestly be the judge for if your work is strong enough because only the studio managers who go through the books know what they need. They might need more motion people than branding designers and vice-versa. The...
It's all based on if we have new clients, need new hires, etc.
In the Portland office they kept 8 of 12 of the creative interns (art directors/copywriters) and 3 of 3 of the design interns because we got some new business in and needed people.
But worst case scenario, the W+K name on your...
No. They had an intern from France last winter, but seeing you're from Australia it might be easier to get an internship with one of our European offices.
Also, I'd look into The Kennedys in the Amsterdam office. It's the cousin to the W+K12 program that I was in—except you get housing and...

It really is hard. Especially when you have a a day job.
Start by scheduling time into your day. An hour or two dedicated to thinking, concepting, drawing, planning, etc.
As you get into your work, you'll start getting yourself into a better work rhythm.
Make stuff.
If you're looking to get a design job, make things. Smart things.
If you want to do print start with movie posters series. Figure out if there's an interesting story to tell through the visuals.
If you're into UI/UX/Icons, make icons, logos, etc.
If you're into...
