I can't tell if your picture of the tongue has it, but is the "2012"embroidered on the side of the tongue underneath the eyelets? The shoes look fine IMO (proper tongue height, dots behind waffle tabs), that's just one more thing to make sure.

agreed. those are fakes. the shape of the shoe is just off. the toe box and tongue have a weird slope to them.

Sure he did. Looking way back on his family tree, there are some Germans, some Canadian Indians, some Irish (where I get my last name from), and a bunch of other things. I don't know any of my ancestors from any of those countries and nobody on his side of the family have any sense of identity...
